BigFix Discovery 7 Platform
BIGFIX BENEFITS
Pervasive Real-Time Visibility and Continuous Control
BigFix discovers virtually every endpoint on your network, then brings them in from the cold. Once installed on the endpoint, the BigFix Agent continuously reports any and all state and configuration changes back to the BigFix Console as they happen. This gives administrators real-time system status information—from individual endpoints to the entire enterprise. Configuration actions, vulnerability fixes, access controls, software updates all take place just as fast. Infrastructure managers can even watch the progress of a management action as it progresses through the entire infrastructure.
Single Agent, Multiple Functions
The BigFix Agent performs a growing number of services that cover Asset Discovery and Inventory, Anti-Virus, Anti-Spyware, Data Leak Prevention, Patch Management, Power Management, Security Policy Enforcement, Software Distribution, Vulnerability Assessment and Remediation. Consuming only 2-4 megabytes of system memory, the BigFix Agent can be throttled to no more than two percent of processor bandwidth.
Consolidated Management
BigFix not only consolidates management and reporting at the device level, administrators see and control all BigFix services through the BigFix Console. By reducing tool clutter at both the device and management levels, BigFix helps you cut licensing costs for multiple tools while building up deeply grooved, knowledge bases that improve operational efficiencies.
Any Platform
BigFix is not a Windows-only solution. The BigFix Agent runs on all platforms including Mac OS, Linux, UNIX and all flavors of Windows including Vista. Now you can finally have a single IT management solution that can handle all your computers and computing platforms.
Unsurpassed Scalability
BigFix has brought real-time visibility and control to infrastructures ranging from hundreds to hundreds-of-thousands managed devices. Because BigFix uses existing infrastructure to provide communications and management workload processing resources, the larger the device population, the larger the available resource pool to support BigFix.
Minimal Investment for Dedicated Infrastructure
Since BigFix largely uses the processing power and network bandwidth organizations already have, this imposes minimal need to invest in dedicated infrastructure to support a BigFix solution. In practice, a single $5,000-$10,000 class server can support a BigFix solution managing up to 200,000 endpoints. No other vendor can come close to this ratio.
Customization on the Fly
BigFix enables qualified administrators to create and launch ad-hoc policies and routines for execution by the BigFix Agent. In addition to providing a powerful tool to mold a BigFix solution to meet unique requirements, it helps organizations cope with security and IT management surprises that occur all too frequently.
