Aruba Delivers Real Time Location Services (RTLS) Over the Same 802.11 Network Used for Voice and Data Mobility

Unlike competing location solutions, Aruba delivers the precision necessary to satisfy a wide array of applications without requiring the deployment of dedicated location sensors. For example, hospitals can reduce the amount of medical devices (e.g. IV pumps) they must purchase/lease if staff can rapidly locate available resources. Furthermore, tagging medical devices improves staff productivity by reducing the amount of time spent locating equipment scheduled for routine maintenance.

Aruba's RTLS makes use of APs to report signal measurements for tracked 802.11 asset tags and Wi-Fi enabled devices (e.g. laptops, handsets) to the Mobility Management System (MMS) which calculates location co-ordinates. Third party tracking/logic applications can make use of location co-ordinates by interfacing with the MMS Location API. Aruba has partnered with industry leading suppliers of 802.11 asset tags and location applications to deliver a complete RTLS solution.
